"We're delighted with the decision," Bonnie Robin-Vergeer, a seniorattorney for the Public Citizen Litigation Center, said. "Long-haultruckers drive too many hours, and a rule that allows them to drivemore hours is dangerous for the public and for the drivers themselves."
Fuck you Bonnie.
People do not realize that the new laws require a driver to start his time the minute he turns the key.
6am pre trip inspection
6:15 pull out of the truckstop
turn on radio and be happy you only have to drop this load from Richmond to New jearsey about 345 mile
8:15 hit DC beltway
9:30 leave DC beltway
10:15 Balt tollway
10:30 out of the toll way
11:00 maryland scales
11:30 leave scales
13:30 NJT
15:30 arrived at dock call dispathch tell them to get you another load
non union shop 16:00 trailer empty
Union shop 17:00 17:30 trailer empty,
now witht he new law this is a drivers total day he got paid about 110.00 Gross and will see about 50 bucks and has use 10 of his sixty hours per week. not Good!
the old law I would take the time I entered the scales and divide the miles by 60mph shaving a couple hours off the trip, and the same for the trip to NJ saving a couple hours more, i would not count the dock time. leaving me time to pick up my next load drive it out of town and get ready for the highway stretch the next day.
THE NEW LAW DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO PICK UP MY NEXT LOAD, IT DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO MOVE MY TRUCK FROM THE DOCKS.
So Fuck you Bonnie
